Traces of the Past

I don’t want to erase my past, because for better or for worse, it has made me who I am today.

Traces of the Past is a new section of Etruscan Corner dedicated to historical aspects and periods that are not specifically related to the world and civilization of the Etruscans.

The past is a fundamental part of our identity: just as a person grows by learning from their experiences, humanity is also the result of a long journey of discoveries, mistakes, and conquests. Every historical era has left traces that help us understand who we are today. Remembering and understanding the past doesn't serve to imprison us, but rather to give meaning to the present and build a better future. Every era, like every personal experience, has contributed to shaping what we are today: a humanity that continues to learn from itself.

When we think of the past, we must not imagine it simply as a succession of dates and events, but as a long history of people, choices, mistakes, and discoveries. Humanity, just like an individual, has grown step by step, learning from what it has experienced. Every era has left its mark, and erasing it would mean losing a part of ourselves. From the birth of community life to the ancient civilizations that taught humanity to organize and think big. Every era, even the most difficult, has brought with it lessons that must not be forgotten, lessons that have shaped a more aware but also more fragile humanity.

And this is why we must not erase our past: because it is thanks to it, for better or for worse, that we must learn to be better.
